This Saturday, our 2009s will unveil a plaque in memory of their friend Owen Shaw, who sadly passed away earlier this year, before going on to be match-day mascots for our Junior match against Thornton Hibs.
Earlier this year the passing of young Owen Shaw, a member of our 2009 squad, affected Bathgate Thistle Community Club greatly with no-one feeling the impact more than his team-mates and coaches.
Before our match with Thornton Hibs on Saturday a plaque will be unveiled at the ground commemorating the memory of young Owen. Our talented young kids will then be given a tour of the dressing rooms, allowing them to see where our senior side prepare for their matches, before going on to be match-day mascots at the game. Hopefully their presence will inspire the players to a win on the day.
Last Sunday a special tournament was played out in his memory at Creamery Park with his family present. The day was especially notable for the great enthusiasm, passion, teamwork and respect shown by all of the players and was a fitting tribute. The Community Club sees hundreds of kids every week coming together in their age groups, playing football, and learning these same values.
Bathgate Thistle Community Football Club were honoured to be able to host last weeks competition and look forward to welcoming the children, parents and coaches of the 2009 team to participate on Saturday.
