WEST LOTHIAN YOUTH LEAGUE: Sunday 23 October, 2016, Craigswood Sports Centre

Eight different goalscorers featured in Bathgate’s convincing win against Murieston United Red as the home side delivered another commanding display. Ross, Craig, an own goal, David, Kieran O, Matty, Elliot and Bailey all etched their names on the scoresheet on a wet morning at Craigswood.

John SRoss was first to score with just two minutes played, controlling Leon’s cross and slotting the ball home on the turn. Craig doubled the advantage at the back post from Dylan’s free-kick before Leon’s cross was inadvertently turned in by the Murieston defence.

Bathgate increased the pace after the interval and scored another five. David struck his team’s fourth goal with a powerful drive from 20 yards and then crossed for Kieran O to convert the fifth. The sixth was the goal of the game, a corner cleared for Matty to lash first time into the top corner from just inside the penalty box.

John (pictured) made his comeback in goal in the second half after two months out with a torn calf muscle and looked like he had never been away. Along with Barry, he played his part in recording a welcome clean sheet.

Elliot claimed his first goal of the season from close range as the final whistle neared and looked delighted to get off the mark. The eighth goal arrived from Bailey who, despite playing left-back, managed to get forward to slide a loose ball across the goalkeeper and into the far corner of the net from a tight angle.
