Wednesday 9th March 2016

Bathgate Thistle FC and the Creamery Park today played host to another round of the 2015/16 Bathgate Primary Schools Football Festival series.

The event today again had participants from the town’s Balbardie, Boghall, Simpson, St Mary’s and Windyknowe primary schools. Some of the schools involved younger players today due to the older kids being away at school camps.

There were 10 hard fought and competitive matches and the table below shows the results:

Boghall PS 3-1 Windyknowe PS

Simpson PS 0-1 St Mary’s PS

Windyknowe PS 0-1 Balbardie PS

Boghall PS 1-0 Simpson PS

Balbardie PS 0-1 St Mary’s PS

Windyknowe PS 0-2 Simpson PS

Simpson PS 5-0 Balbardie PS

St Mary’s PS 3-1 Boghall PS

Balbardie PS 1-1 Boghall PS

St Mary’s PS 2-0 Windyknowe PS

Bathgate Thistle FC would again like to emphasise the high level of sportsmanship on show and the fantastic football talent within all of the schools. We’d also like to thank Graeme Young from Active Schools West Lothian and all the teachers, helpers, coaches and family and friends who made the day such an enjoyable event. A final wee mention to Ben Peters, groundsman at Bathgate Thistle, for an excellent playing surface and Kevin MacDonald, Bathgate 2004 and 2008 coach, for setting out the pitches.

The 7-a-sides tournament is nearing its conclusion with two more events, one at Bathgate Academy in April then the grand finale back at the Creamery Park on Wednesday 25th May 2016. The Club is eagerly anticipating the return of the teams for the last games of the season.
