Jags Subdue Bright Star
Sunday 25th August, 2013. WLAYFC Season U-16 League
Deans Primary School, Livingston. Benign conditions.
On a lovely late summer Sunday morning the Jags gained their third straight league win in a week with an excellent display of team football against a stuffy and hardworking Star side.
Coach Kelly again jiggled with his team selection in different areas and it seemed to gell with some sparkling passing football as the Jags raced to a halftime 3-0 lead through a Potter header and two Hughes goals. In response the Star came close when McMahon was forced into a finger tip save onto the bar after a self inflicted error.
After the break the Jags closed the game out with some controlled passing and solid defence which never looked like being breached and eventually Forrest who had ran his heart out as usual chased down a lost cause, dispossessed a defender and selflessly cut back for Dalton to slam home number 4 to complete the scoring.
A comfortable victory all round with promising signs and confidence growing within the squad with the added bonuses of a clean sheet and best of all no bookings, yes I said no bookings.
M.o.M. : Hughes just edges it with two good goals from his cavalier runs.
