Match Report

Limefield Park,  Polbeth      Thursday 22/08/2013  Calm bumpy pitch.

The Jags continued their winning start with a comprehensive victory against a courageous Polbeth side who have improved greatly over the close season.

Coach Kelly shuffled the pack to start 4 trialists, who didn’t disappoint,  once they had gelled and grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck.  With Polbeth adopting a highline of defence the Jags took a little time to figure out the correct tactics to prise open a stubborn Polbeth defence but after a couple of early chances the Jag’s speedy attack struck with Melrose and Forrest scoring in quick succession before Polbeth pulled a goal back.  However, Thistle were not to be denied as Gibson lashed a great shot into the far corner to extend their lead before an O.G. and a Kelly cross / shot completed the scoring at half-time.

The Jags continued to dominate in the second half with further goals from Melrose(2), Forrest(1), McGuire(2), Dalton, Bell and Young with Hughes and Mungall pulling the strings in the midfield.

A good all round performance with the new boys looking the part.

MoM: Hard decision but Mungall just edges it with a polished display.
