ROSE SHOWN NO MERCY

WLAYFC U-16 League, Linlithgow Sports Centre, 22/09/13

On a beautiful autumn morning the Jags showed no mercy to a sadly understrength Rose side who showed commendable spirit but ultimately were ground down by the better team.
With the Scottish Cup looming and a depleted Rose facing them Coach Kelly went for different options in personnel and positional changes in an experimental formation which yet again bore fruit.

The Jags came out the blocks slightly faster than Mr Bolt and were one up in under a minute when McGuire lashed home a poor clearance from the edge of the box. The Rose’s task looked hopeless even at this early stage and apart from the occasional defensive lapse the Jags set up camp in the Rose half for the rest of the match.

Bell swept home a great delivered free kick from Swan and then Gibson finished off a goal mouth stramash from close range to extend the Jags lead before half-time.

No change in the second half as ten men Rose, who mounted the token foray, wilted in the face of constant pressure as Swan, Irvine, Kelly(pen) and Dwyer(2) completed the scoring.

Another competent display, with confidence and spirit building all the time especially with a clean sheet and no bookings again. Keep up the good work.

M.o.M.: Has to be Swan with that cultured left foot.
