JAGS HIT FOR NINE

Meadow Park, Bathgate.  6th October, 2013.  Pitch soft greasy surface.

The eagerly anticipated contest between the two sides turned out to be a complete mis-match as the strong running, focussed, incisive and ultimately clinical Park side totally destroyed the Jags.

Out of their depth or a bad day at the office, only time will tell and hopefully the latter and not the former.

Another good attendance turned up to witness this 2nd round tie which promised much but in reality failed to deliver.  No one questions the Jags commitment but on this occasion it clearly wasn’t enough to a very competent Park outfit who thoroughly merited their win.

After a fairly even opening period, Park sprang the Jags offside trap and took the lead from a neat cutback.  Shortly thereafter Jags gained a penalty but nothing else when Dwyer was hauled down by the keeper but failed to convert as the keeper made a smart save.

Jags were made to pay when woeful defending allowed the Park to stretch their lead with two goals in as many minutes as indecisive play by the remodelled defence collapsed.

Any hopes of a fight back where crushed just after half-time when a speculative shot took a wicked deflection and the mountain became a range with ice on top  for 4-0.

The procession continued before Forrest (M) claimed a late consolation and the Park closed their account just before the final whistle but not before a couple of bookings completed a miserable day for the Jags.

A painful lesson for all concerned and we start again.
