The game was a well contested by both teams and was an entertaining game of football for the neutral supporter. It was an even first half with both sides having chances to take the lead but both Goalies done their job in Goal by going in at half time 0 – 0.

The second half started off the same as the first with both sides pushing forward looking for the breakthrough. Late on in the game Bathgate were awarded a penalty for a foul on the striker running through. Welsh stepped up to take and again the Arniston keeper made a great save to keep them in the game. In the last 10 mins Bathgate broke down the left wing and put a cross into the box which was met at the near post by welsh who steered the ball past the Arniston Keeper to win 1 – 0 and put Bathgate into the next round of the East of Scotland cup.
