Bathgate Thistle will be hoping to extend their unbeaten run away to Tranent Juniors on Saturday afternoon in the McBookie.com East Premier League.
Andrew Colley takes his side along the M8 and Edinburgh bypass to Foresters Park, Tranent, this weekend hopeful that his side will follow up their excellent performance at home against Dundee Violet with another good showing against Tranent. His side moved up to fifth place in the league table and did their goal difference no harm at all with a 5-1 win on Saturday – two goals apiece from Robbie Feeney and Darren Dalrymple and a collectors item strike from George Bonnar securing the points. Bathgate are now unbeaten in 4 with three wins and a draw in their last 5 matches. Robbie Feeney has now scored in his last 4 games and has 17 for the season while Darren Dalrymple has been on the scoresheet 4 times in the last 3 games. David Taylor, who was unavailable for Saturdays match, returns to the squad.
Tranent find themselves with a 4 game unbeaten run also going into Saturdays game though they have drawn their last two against Arniston Rangers and Haddington Athletic respectively. They currently have Daz Smith and Kenny Rafferty looking after the first team after parting ways with Gary Small in November. Tranent of course won the South Division last year and were touted as one of the pre-season favourites for promotion, especially after adding Scotland International Kevin Thomson to their squad, but that move did not work out as planned and they have found the Premier League a tough division to crack. They have produced some excellent results with a highlight an excellent 3-nil victory away to current league leaders Kennoway Star Hearts.
The previous meeting between the two sides ended with a 2-1 win for Tranent at Creamery Park in October. A poor display from the Jags saw them fall two goals behind with a Feeney goal in reply.
It’s sure to be a cracking game with both sides capable of producing quality football and goals. Your support is vital to ensuring that Bathgate come out on the winning side. Together we are stronger!
