Team; Jake, Ross, David, Sean, Leon, James, Bally, Sam, Connor, Robbie, Bailey

There’s never an easy game in Edinburgh, but Bathgate are going in to today’s game unbeaten. Aidan is out unwell, but Jake is back in after his return from holiday.
Bathgate get a couple of good chances in the opening minutes, Baillie creates a good opportunity for himself but can’t find a finish. Both teams are battling it out in the middle of the park but it’s Bathgate who break the deadlock in 20 minutes, Baillie controls the ball inside the box, he shoots and scores 0-1
That goal provides Bathgate with a nice confidence boost, they win a 50/50 on the half way line and that’s sets off Connor who sprints off leaving the defenders trailing behind. He strikes the ball from the edge of the box, across the goalkeeper and into the net in the opposite corner 0-2
Connor goes close on 29 minutes with a run and shot, it’s identical to his goal but this time his shot just flashes by the post. Edinburgh City respond on 30 minutes, with one pass from front to back the ball finds their number 9. He looks like he’s built for strength but a turn of pace sets him free down the left wing. He squares the ball across the face of goal but the City striker hits the cross bar from close range and the ball is cleared.
Bathgate make it 0-3 on 32 minutes. You would have thought that Edinburgh would have done more to prevent Connor’s surging runs but he gets a third identical chance running from the half way line and he lashes it home for his second goal of the day.
Half time Edinburgh City Whites 0 v 3 Bathgate Thistle
Edinburgh City come out fighting for the second half and throw everything they’ve got at Bathgate, but Thistle respond in the best possible way by counter attacking and scoring, it’s a great run and finish by Robbie to make it 0-4
Robbie follows that up with another great strike and goal on the 45 minute mark 0-5
Jake makes way for Gareth to see the game out, but there’s still time for Gareth to make an important contribution with a couple of excellent saves
Full time Edinburgh City Whites 0 v 5 Bathgate Thistle. That’s a decent win and another clean sheet. Not our best football of the season, but it was a tough test and a good result
