Bathgate Thistle Community Football Club are delighted to announce that Keiran Welsh has become the first player to sign for our Junior side from a team within the Bathgate Thistle Community F.C. structure. The versatile 24 year old, a Jags supporter since childhood,  has been a standout performer for our Saturday Amateur side since its formation in season 2011/12 – and before that with Bathgate Vale A.F.C.

Last season his performances were recognised by the Lothian & Edinburgh Football Association and he was picked to represent their select team against various sides, including the Scottish Amateur F.A. Select team. Keiran said,

“I’m delighted to have made the step up from the amateurs and I look forward to proving myself at a higher level.”

As well as playing duties Keiran is Co-Manager of our Sunday amateur side which he hopes to take from strength to strength this season with a view to a promotion after an encouraging first season just past.

Alan Bishop who sits on the Community Club Executive and is Chair of the Amateur Section congratulated Keiran on his step up, saying,

“This is why the Community Club was formed, to progress players through the game, to give opportunities to players at all levels. Keiran’s an early product of the links formed between the amateurs and juniors and whilst the amateurs will miss his presence we hope he’s the first of many. The coaching pathway the Community Club is putting in place, backed by the S.F.A., will mean that young players in Bathgate have every opportunity to progress and play at Amateur, Junior or Senior level.”

We hope you will join us in welcoming Keiran and all other recent signings into our new look first team squad.
